Daffodil Weekend

A rural scene with a grassy path covered with yellow wildflowers on the left and a neatly trimmed hedge on the right, with trees and a blue sky with clouds in the background. Wild Daffodils in Oxenhall.

Our annual Daffodil Weekend during March attracts many visitors eager to see the charmingly delicate wild daffodils seen from our section of the eight-mile Daffodil Way footpath...and to enjoy delicious refreshments offered in our Parish Hall over both days.

Historically local villagers picked these daffodils for hospitals and London markets, bundling them with equal numbers of flowers and leaves. Roadside verges, woodlands and fields in the parish feature drifts of wild daffodils and Gwen and Vera’s Fields, two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), are particularly breathtaking, as are the local woods. Unlike cultivated varieties, these charmingly small daffodils grow from seed as well as from bulbs, taking about four years to bloom.

Why not come and visit us this Spring, not only to experience these joyful wild flowers for yourself - but also our hospitality, with the delicious sweet and savoury treats we'll have waiting for you. St. Anne’s Church and its beautiful churchyard will be open, with fascinating explanations of its many features, including a beautiful and intriguing sculpture.
